Irving Group's Third Annual Fundraising Dinner Supporting Naval Special Warfare Forces and Their Families Set For May 21
SAN DIEGO – The Irving Group will host the third annual Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Family Foundation's "Evening to Support the Force Behind the Warrior – the American Family," a fundraising dinner reception, on May 21 at a private residence. Irving established the Foundation three years ago as a locally-based 501 (c) 3 organization to support active, wounded and fallen NSW warriors and their families through educational grants, family program assistance, and morale and welfare activities. All tickets and donations are tax deductible.
The event, which is particularly timely following the heroic SEAL mission that brought Osama Bin Laden to justice, will feature unique live and silent auctions giving attendees the opportunity to bid on many one-of-a-kind SEAL-related items. All proceeds from the auctions go directly to the Foundation.
"These brave NSW men and women put their lives on the line for us every day, without hesitation," said Irving. "Our goal is to provide them with the support their families need during times of crisis, prolonged deployments, or in the event they are wounded or killed in the line of duty. These warriors are silent heroes as are their spouses and children. By providing valuable support services, we are easing these soldiers' minds and keeping them focused on their duties at hand."
Irving and his wife started the event following his reading of The Lone Survivor, a first-hand account of Operation Redwing by lone survivor, Petty Officer First Class – retired, Marcus Luttrell. "We initially thought this would be a small gathering of the local business community, but it has grown quickly to include 500 attendees with funds raised in excess of $500,000.
The event presents a rare opportunity to meet and hear from NSW warriors. This year's featured speaker is Ken Robinson, a retired 24-year military veteran who served in tactical, operational and strategic assignments with the Rangers, Special Forces, National Security Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency and Central Intelligence Agency. With his breadth of experience, Robinson brings unique insights into the historic events we have just witnessed; he promises to provide a "peak behind the curtain" in detailing the role Special Operations Forces have played in the last decade.
For information or to make a tax deductible donation, email Sara Taylor at sara@TheIrvingGroup.com. Additional details about the non-profit event are available at www.sealteamevents.com.
